Executive summary:

This study was conducted to assess the toxicity of the test substance,Tricyanohexane, to rainbow trout,Oncorhynchus mykiss,in a 96-hour static test.

Test concentrations were determined by preliminary range-finding test. The range-finder indicated aLC5o (Median Lethal Concentration) of>100 mg/L, so a limit test was conducted in lieu of a definitive. The limit test was conducted using the test substance at a concentration of 100 mg/L and was administered to the fest system, Oncorhynchus mykiss, in moderately hard synthetic freshwater. Three replicates of ten organisms each were treated. A control group containing three control replicates often organisms was not exposed to the test substance.Dissolved oxygen, temperature, conductivity and pH measurements were recorded at dosing and termination.Observations for survival in each test chamber were made daily. The test was terminated after 96± 1 hours of exposure. A mortality rate of 0.00% was observed in the control and organisms treated with 100 mgL. Therewere no observable abnormalities in either group. The No Observed Effect Concentration (NOEC) of Tricyanohexane was determined to be 100 mg/L, and the Median Lethal Concentration (LC50) was determined to be > 100mg/L.Results presented are based on nominal concentrations.
