- Executive summary:
The melting point of Fosfotex C16/18 DEA was determined in a pre-test and in a DSC, according to OECD 102, EU A.1, no-GLP.
The melting point was evaluated with Event Marker function and is indicated in the range from 47.09 °C to 75.35 °C (320.24 K to 348.50 K)
with the first peak maximum of 58.88 °C (332.03 K) and the second peak maximum of 67.69 °C (340.84 K)
These values represent the two independent determinations.
Reference
Pre-test
The test substance melted to aclear colourless liquid. After cooling down the test substance was solidified as a white turbid solid like the original test substance.
DSC measurement
In both measurements an endothermic event with two peak maximum and a flat broad exothermic event were detected.
According to the pre-test for melting point the endothermic event can be considered as melting point. This was evaluated with Event Marker function and is indicated in the range.
The detected exothermic event can be interpreted as boiling under decomposition based on the observations of the boiling point pre-test, as well as the appearance of the sample in the crucible after the first measurement. The beginning of boiling under decomposition was evaluated with Event Marker function.
