- Executive summary:
According to the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics (D. R. Lide) the water solubility of Magnesium perchlorate is 1000 g/L at a temperature of 25 °C.
No further details are reported in the handbooks on the determination. The reported value is assumed to have been determined at STP (101.3 kPa).
- Endpoint:
- water solubility
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- weight of evidence
- Reliability:
- 2 (reliable with restrictions)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- study well documented, meets generally accepted scientific principles, acceptable for assessment
- Qualifier:
- no guideline followed
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- - Parameters analysed / observed:
In this study the previously unknown solubility polytherms of M(ClO4)2-H2O, where M2+ is Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+, or Ba2+, were determined. Furthermore, the eutectic concentrations of the solutions, the composition of the crystal hydrates, and the fraction of ’free water’ (i.e., water not incorporated in crystal hydrate) in the eutectic were determined. Finally a correlation was discussed between the latter parameter and the water activity in the eutetic solution at 25°C.
- GLP compliance:
- not specified
- Type of method:
- other: solubility polytherm
- Water solubility:
- 1 000 g/L
- Conc. based on:
- test mat.
- Temp.:
- 25 °C
- Remarks on result:
- other: 4.75 mol/1000 g H20 reported, resulting in 1060 g/L using the ,molecular weight of 223.2 g/mol of the test material
- Conclusions:
- water solubility: 1060 g/L at 25 °C
- Executive summary:
In the present study, the water solubility of Magnesium perchlorate was determined to be 1060 g/L at a temperature of 25 °C by solubility polytherm.
