Executive summary:

This review covers the early uses of titanium (IV) compounds to treat topical infections, investigations into anti-tumour activity, effects on proteases, and effects on bacteria. The article also provides a review of titanium (IV) transport into cells. Studies in both man and in animals given titanium (IV) compounds through the orak route, and via i.p and i.m. injection have shown titanium may be taken up into lungs, liver, kidney, heart and spleen.
