Persistance assessment
The substance has been evaluated in a ready biodegradation study according to OECD 301B (CO2 evolution). Nearly no biodegradation has been observed in this study. Maximally 5.5 % biodegradation after 28 days. Since the pass levels were not reached within the 10-day window, the substance is regarded as 'not readily biodegradable'.
Also abiotic degradation was assessed in an hydrolysis experiment according to OECD 111. The hydrolysis was negligible at pH 4 with an estimated half-life of > 1 year. At pH 7 and pH 9 fast hydrolysis was observed. The half-life at pH 7 is determined to be 6.73 days at 20°C. At pH 9, no main test was conducted because hydrolysis at 50°C showed that after 30 minutes only 5 % of the initial concentration was left. It can be concluded that at pH 9 the half-life is much lower than 1 day. Clearly the test substance is not P, but there is however no information available on the degradation products formed and hence on their P potential.
The available information is not conclusive for persistence (P).
Bioaccumulation assessment
For this substance only information on the partition coefficient is available. The partition coefficient was assessed according to OECD 107, shake flask method. The log Pow value is < -2, which is extremely low. Since the log Kow is well below the screening cut-off log Kow = 4.5, it is concluded that the substance is not B.
Additionally, a QSAR model (BCFBAF v3.01, available in EpiSuite) has been ran to check the bio-accumulation potential. The calculated BCF using the measured log Kow value of -2 was 3.162 L/kg. This value is well below 2000 L/kg, the cut-off value for bio-accumulation.
We hence conclude that the substance is not B.
Toxicity assessment
Based on the available toxicological and ecotoxicological information, the substance is found not T.
