Duration:

Dose descriptor:

Effect conc.:

Nominal / measured:

Conc. based on:

Basis for effect:
mortality
Remarks:
maternal
Details on results:
No mortality occurred in the negative control. However, the reproduction rate of 40 offsprings / maternal animal was not reached, so the test is not considered completely valid.

Any other information on results incl. tables

Reproduction rates (x offspring / maternal animal):

Control = 11.03 (considered as 100%)

0.0081 mg/L = 5.4 (49%)

0.026 mg/L = 6.4 (58%)

No offspring at 0.081, 0.26 and 0.81 mg/L due to 80 -100% maternal mortality.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
no
Remarks:
The reproduction rate in the negative control was too low.
Conclusions:
The 21-d NOEC (reproduction) to Daphnia magna was found to be <0.0081 mg/L. The reproduction toxicity might be overestimated due to the low reproduction rate in the whole test (negative control, too). However, due to the low 48-h EC50 (mortality) in the range finding study and the high maternal mortality rate in the main test, the substance can be considered chronically very toxic to aquatic invertebrates.
