- EC Number:
- 454-780-6
- EC Name:
- -
- Cas Number:
- 27445-54-1
- Molecular formula:
- Hill formula: C12H27NO2Si CAS formula: C12H27NO2Si
- IUPAC Name:
- Cyclohexyl-((diethoxy-methyl-silanyl)-methyl)-amine
- Test material form:

Constituent 1
Study design
- Oxygen conditions:
- aerobic
- Inoculum or test system:
- activated sludge, domestic, non-adapted
- Details on inoculum:
- - Species: activated sludge, micro organisms from a domestic waste water
treatment plant
- Origin: supplied by the sewage plant GroB-Zimmem, Germany
- Conditioning: The activated sludge used for this study was washed by centrifugation and the supematant liquid phase was decanted. The solid material was resuspended in tap water and again centrifuged.
This procedure was repeated twice. An aliquot of the final sludge suspension was weighed, dried and the ratio of wet sludge to its dry weight was determined. Based on this ratio, calculated aliquots of washed sludge suspension, corresponding to 1.5 g dry material per litre were mixed with test water and then aerated until use. - Duration of test (contact time):
- 28 d
Initial test substance concentration
- Initial conc.:
- 25 mg/L
- Based on:
- test mat.
Parameter followed for biodegradation estimation
- Parameter followed for biodegradation estimation:
- O2 consumption
- Details on study design:
- The amounts of test item and reference item were directly weighed into the test flasks. No emulsifiers or solvents were used, but the solutions were dispersed by stirring to achieve a homogeneous solution ofthe test item.
Test Item (flasks 1 and 2)
Inoculum Control (flasks 3 and 4)
Procedure Control (flask 5)
Abiotic Control (flask 6)
Toxicity Control (flask 7)
Incubation:
The closed test flasks were incubated in a climatic chamber under continuous stirring. The consumption of oxygen was determined by measuring the change of pressure in the flasks. Evolved carbon dioxide was absorbed in an aqueous solution (45 %) ofpotassium hydroxide.
Reference substance
- Reference substance:
- aniline
Results and discussion
% Degradation
- Key result
- Parameter:
- % degradation (O2 consumption)
- Value:
- 29
- Sampling time:
- 28 d
- Remarks on result:
- other: mean of two replicates
BOD5 / COD results
- Results with reference substance:
- The reference item Aniline was sufficiently degraded to 72 % after 14 days, and to 79 % after 28 days of incubation (based on ThOD N03).
A degradation of 93 % and 101 % were determined for 14 days and 28 days interval when calculation was done based on ThOD NH4.
Any other information on results incl. tables
The toxicity control attained 57% degradation after 14 d and 58 % after 28 days of incubation.
According to the test guidelines the test item can be assumed to be not inhibitory on the activated sludge micro organisms because degradation was> 25 % within 14 days.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- yes
- Interpretation of results:
- not readily biodegradable
- Conclusions:
- The percentage biodegradation of the test substance was 29 % at the end of the test under the conditions of the study, so the test substance cannot be considered to be readily biodegradable.
