Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
19 January - 28 March, 2018
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Version / remarks:
31 May 2008
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

The test item was not ignited and did not propagate 200 mm length within 4 minutes during the preliminary test. Hence the burning rate test was not performed.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
In an flammabilty test according to EEC A.10, the test item was not flammable.
Executive summary:

The flammability of the test item was determined in accordance with Official journal of the European Union, “EEC A.10. Flammability (Solids)”, 31 May 2008 and Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, sixth revised edition; Test N.1: Test method for readily combustible solids, 2015.

The flammability of the test item was determined during the preliminary test. The test item was not ignited, when the burner was kept in contact with the test item for 2 minutes and the test item did not propagate 200 mm length within 4 minutes. Thus, the burning rate test is not applicable for the test item.

Based on the results of the test, the test item is considered to be non-flammable.

Endpoint:

Additional information

The flammability of the test item was determined in accordance with Official Journal of the European Union, “EEC A.10. Flammability (Solids)”, 31 May 2008 and Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, sixth revised edition; Test N.1: Test method for readily combustible solids, 2015.

The flammability of the test item was determined during the preliminary test. The test item did not ignite, when the burner was kept in contact with the test item for 2 minutes and the test item did not propagate 200 mm length within 4 minutes. Thus, the burning rate test is not needed.

Based on the results of the test, the test item is considered to be non-flammable.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008

The available experimental data are reliable and suitable for classification purposes under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.

The test substance is not considered to be classified as flammable, pyrophoric, self-heating or flammable in contact with water under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, as amended for the tenth time in Regulation (EU) No 2017/776.
