Remarks:
In a preliminary test the concentration found was 39.5 mg/L. Therefore the concentration for the main test was set to 200 mg/L. This corresponds to 5 times the concentration found in the pretest.

Conclusions:
In a test according to OECD 105 the water solubility of 3-Hydroxy-2-methyl-4-quinolinecarboxylic acid at 20 °C was determined to be 20 mg/L (0.020 g/L) at 20°C. Due to the acidic nature of the substance the underlying pH value was 4.8.
Executive summary:

The water solubility of the test item 3-Hydroxy-2-methyl-4-quinolinecarboxylic acid in demineralized water was determined with the shake flask method at 20 °C according to OECD 105 and OPPTS 830.7840.

The concentration of the test item in the aqueous test solutions was determined by HPLC analysis with DAD detection.

The relative standard deviation between the single determinations is < 15 %.

The validity criteria have therefore been met.

Water solubility of 3-Hydroxy-2-methyl-4-quinolinecarboxylic acid at 20 °C: 20 mg/L (0.020 g/L)
