Description of key information
2-(4-Amino-2-nitroanilino)ethanol is not readily biodegradable in the conditions of the ready biodegradation test OECD 301F.

A ready biodegradation test was performed on the substance 2-(4-Amino-2-nitroanilino)ethanol according to the OECD 301F guideline and the
EU Method C.4D and in conformity with GLP.
The inoculum was activated sludge collected from domestic waste water treatment plant Bensheim, Germany. The final concentration of activated sludge in the tested flasks was 28.7 mg sludge dry matter/L. The concentration of the test item was 102.9 mg/L.
The test treatment and inoculum blank were measured in duplicate, while the reference substance, the toxicity control and the abiotic were measured in one flask.
All the validity criteria are fulfilled : the oxygen demand of the inoculum control was not greater than 60 mg O2/L within 28 days (33 mg O2/L); the pH was within the range of pH 6.0 to 8.5; the biodegradation of the reference item is >60% within 14 days; the deviation between the replicate treatments is < 20%.
The mean biodegradation of the test material after 28 days was 3% (ThODNH4) and 2% (ThODNO3). The test item did not meet the criteria for ready biodegradation.
This ready biodegradation test is classified as acceptable, and satisfies the guideline requirements for the OECD 301F guideline and EU Method C.4D.
