Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when the substance is introduced in appropriately low concentrations.

EC50 for microorganisms:
20.6 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
171 mg/L

Additional information

The effect of AMIX TE (Oxirane, reaction products with ammonia, distn. residues; CAS 68953 -70 -8) on the growth of microorganisms was studied in a GLP test following the procedures of the German Industrial Standard DIN guideline 38412. Pseudomonas putida was used as test species. Test concentrations ranged between 39 and 10000 mg/L were applied. Two concentrations were also tested after neutralisation (1250 and 10000 mg/L). After 16 h the EC10 was determined to be 171 mg/L, the EC50 was 20.6 mg/L (nominal; BASF 1996, project no. 95/067/70/2). The growth inhibiting effect was lower in the neutralised test samples indicating that part of the toxicity of the test substance is due to the high pH. It can be concluded that the inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when the substance (AMIX TE) is introduced in appropriately low concentrations.
