- Details on sampling:
- The mortality and behavior of test species were evaluated at times, 1,4,24,48,72 and 96 hours.
- Details on test solutions:
- The concentration range was selected on the basis of a range finding study, were a LC50 of 10 mg/l were indicated.
the concentration range was 1.0-21.5 mg/l, spaced by a factor of 2.15 - Test organisms (species):
- Oryzias latipes
- Details on test organisms:
- The ricefish (Oryzias latipes ) are recommended species by OECD guidelines for the testing of chemicals 203 “Fish acute toxicity test” (Adopted : 17 July 1992) and was selected for this test because of a plenty of comparing toxicological data.
132 fish were transferred into 50 L bath 7 days before the test started. Then the acclimation was began under same condition as test environment. The acclimated fish were used in the test, because no dead fish was observed and all fish were healthy during the acclimation. The food was not given for 24 h immediately prior to exposure.
The ricefishes were bred in 100 L rectangular water bath (59 cm W. × 40 cm D. ×39 cm H.). The temperature of breeding water was maintained between 21 ~ 25 oC and photo periods were 16 h light and 8 h dark. Feeds were supplied two times a day; Tetramin flake (Tetra Co. Germany) in the morning, Blood worm (Hikari sales USA Inc., USA) in the afternoon.
The Temperature of ricefish breeding room and breeding water were recorded automatically every 30 minutes. Photo periods were recorded every months. As the results of the monitoring, there was not observed an alteration effecting the test.
Ground water used as breeding water was filtered through 1.0 μm pre-filter and 0.2 μm micro-filter and then used after aeration over 24 h in the test water tank. The water quality was analyzed according to drinking water test guideline every 6 months. As the result of the analysis, there was not observed the alteration effecting the test. - Test type:
- static

- Hardness:
- Total hardness of the test water 96.34 mg CaCO3/L (measured by KS M 0100); Alkanity: 70.47 mg/L (measured by HCl titration method in the standard method (21th edition, APHA, AWWA, WEF, USA))
- Test temperature:
- Mean: 21.6 (21.0-22.6) oC
- pH:
- Mean: 8.03 (7.71-8.39) (PP-15 pH meter, Sartorius)
