Justification for classification or non-classification

Available data on carcinogenicity is inconclusive. Classification according to criteria specified in regulation 1272/2008 is not possible.

Additional information

The one carcinogenity study available on crotonaldehdye was not conclusive. The animals at the low dose level had significantly increased tumors but no such increase was seen in the high dose group.

Based on the findings in the in vivo genotoxicity studies, it is unlikely that crotonaldehyde is a genotoxic carcinogen by any physiologically relevant route of entry.
