Description of key information

Appearance:

Based on available data from reliable sources such as authoritative database and safety data sheet the chemical 4-methylpiperazin-1-amine was observed to be an organic colourless liquid in appearance.

Freezing point:

Based on the prediction done using the EPI Suite MPVPBP V1.43,the freezing point of chemical4-methylpiperazin-1-aminewas predicted.

The freezing point of chemical4-methylpiperazin-1-aminewas estimated to be 21.57 ˚C

Boiling point:

Based on available data from reliable sources such as authoritative database and safety data sheet the boiling point of chemical 4-methylpiperazin-1-amine was determined to be in the range of 172-175°C at 760 torr.

Density:

Based on available data from reliable handbook the density of chemical 4-methylpiperazin-1-amine was determined to be 0.964 g/cm3 at 25 degree C.

Particle size distribution:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form.

Vapour pressure:

Modified Grain method (Mean of Antoine and Modified Grain methods) was used to estimate the vapour pressure of the chemical 4-methylpiperazin-1-amine using MPBPVP v1.43 of EPI SUITE.

The estimated vapour pressure of the chemical 4-methylpiperazin-1-amine at 25deg C was 129 Pa.

Partition coefficient:

The Octanol water Partition coefficient (Log Pow) of 4-methylpiperazin1-amine( CAS no. 6928 -85 -4) predicted from EPI Suite and Danish QSAR is -1.61. This value suggests that this chemical is hydrophilic in nature.

Surface tension:

Based on prediction done using ACD labs, surface tension for chemical 4-methylpiperazin-1-amine was predicted to be 35.2 ± 3.0 dyne/cm.

Flash point:

Based on available data from reliable safety data sheet ,the flash point of chemical 4-methylpiperazin-1-amine was determined to be 63 degree C by closed cup menthod.

Auto-flammability:

4-methylpiperazin-1-amine did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that  4-methylpiperazin-1-amine is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

4-methylpiperazin-1-amine does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that  4-methylpiperazin-1-amine is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus 4-methylpiperazin-1-amine was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Oxidising properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidising properties and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
