Additional information

Penta-1,3-dieneis a flammable (Flam. Liq. 2) liquid substance. No experimental data for irritation properties ofpenta-1,3-dienewere performed by the registrant and, given its physico-chemical properties (i.e. poor water solubility, high volatility, high flammability) it is technically not feasible to perform such test using standard test requirements for irritation testing.

From the data available forpenta-1,3-diene, it is likely that liquidpenta-1,3-dieneor high vapour concentrations ofpenta-1,3-dienein the air may cause irritation of skin and eye However, this scenario could be relevant for occupational settings. Moreover, accidental skin and/or eye contact with liquidpenta-1,3-dienemay take place.

In general, appropriate engineering controls and work practices to reduce employee exposure to the lowest level achievable must be in place with additional suitable skin, eye, face and respiratory protection in work areas and operations with high risks of exposure topenta-1,3-diene.
