Freezing point:
Based on available data from reliable sources such as authoritative database and safety data sheet, the freezing point of chemical Methyl trifluroacetate was determined to be -78 degree C.
Boiling point:
Based on available data from various authoritative databases ,the boiling point of chemical Methyl trifluroacetate was determined to be 43.25 degree C.
Density:
Based on available data from reliable sources such as handbook and safety data sheet, the density of chemical Methyl trifluroacetate was determined to be 1.28g/cm³ at 20°C.
Particle size distribution:
In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REAcH regulation this end point was considered for waiver since the chemical Methyl trifluoroacetate is a liquid and is expected to be marketed or used in a non solid or granular form.
Vapour pressure:
Based on available data from various reliable sources such as authoritative databases and handbook ,the vapour pressure of chemical Methyl trifluroacetate was estimated to be 71727.445 Pa at 25 deegree C
Partition coefficient
Based on the available data from authoritative databases and reliable handbook, octanol water partition coefficient of the Methyl trifluoroacetate (CAS no. 431-47-0) was determined. The determined value of log Pow of the Methyl trifluoroacetate was 0.6. On the basis of log Pow value, the Methyl trifluoroacetate can be considered as hydrophillic in nature.
water solubility:
Based on available data from various reliable sources such as authoritative database and handbook, the water solubility of the chemical Methyl trifluoroacetate was determined to be 28800 mg/L at 25 deg C, indicating that test substance is very soluble in water.
Surface tension:
Based on the data from ACD labs, surface tension for substance Methyl trifluroacetate was predicted to be 17.3 ± 3.0 dyne/cm.
Flash point:
Based on available data from material safety data sheet, the flash point point of chemical Methyl trifluroacetate was determined to be -18 degree C by using closed cup menthod
As the experimental boiling point value of chemialMethyl trifluroacetate was 43.25 degree C from various reliable sources which is >35 degree C.Hence,on the basis of above flash point and initial boiling point value, the chemicalMethyl trifluroacetate was considered to be classified as flammable liquid category 2 in accordance with CLP regulation
Auto flammability:
The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is pyrophoric (The chemical Methyl trifluoroacetate is a flammable liquid with the flash point reported to be -20 degree C. Therefore it is not recommended to conduct testing for auto flammability. Thus, this end point was considered for waiver.)
Flammability:
The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid (The chemical Methyl trifluoroacetate is a flammable liquid having a reported flash point of -18 degree C. Therefore it is not recommended to conduct testing for flammability. Thus, this end point was considered for waiver.)
The chemical is considered to be flammable for the purpose of chemical safety assessment
Explosiveness:
The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties
Oxidising properties:
The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is flammable
