Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

General information:

Take persons to a safe place. Observe self-protection for first aid. Seek medical advice in the event of contact with this substance.

After inhalation:

Keep the patient calm. Protect against loss of body heat. Seek medical advice and clearly identify substance.

After contact with the skin:

Remove contaminated or soaked clothing. Wash off with plenty of water or water and soap immediately for 10-15 minutes. In serious cases, use emergency shower immediately. Seek medical advice and clearly identify substance.

After contact with the eyes:

Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 10-15 minutes. Keep eyelids well open to rinse the whole eye surface and eyelids with water. Seek medical advice and clearly identify substance.

After swallowing:

If conscious, give several small portions of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice and clearly identify substance.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:

After inhalation: treat as early as possible using cortisone spray.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

water spray , extinguishing powder , alcohol-resistant foam . For small amounts: carbon dioxide.

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:

water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

At low oxygen level: corrosive substances .

Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for fire fighting:

Use respiratory protection independent of recirculated air.

General information:

Cool endangered containers with water.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Wear personal protection equipment. Avoid inhaling mists and vapours. Avoid sources of ignition.

Environmental precautions:

Contain any fluid that runs out using suitable material (e.g. earth). Prevent material from entering sewers or surface waters.

Observe local/state/federal regulations.

Methods for cleaning up:

Absorb with a liquid binding material such as diatomaceous earth and dispose of according to local/state/federal regulations.

Contain larger amounts and pump up into suitable containers. Ensure adequate ventilation.

Further information:

Eliminate all sources of ignition.

Handling and storage

Handling:

Precautions for safe handling:

Ensure adequate ventilation. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. When transferring flammable liquids between metal containers, ground and

bond the containers to drain off and equalize their static electric charges and reduce the potential for static sparks to occur.

Precautions against fire and explosion:

Keep away from sources of ignition and do not smoke. Cool endangered containers with water.

Flammable vapors may accumulate and form explosive mixtures with air in containers, process vessels, including partial, empty and uncleaned

containers and vessels, or other enclosed spaces. Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Conditions for storage rooms and vessels:

Protect against light. Store under protective gas. Suitable material for storage containerts, casks and pipelines: stainless steel.

Advice for storage of incompatible materials:

Do not store together with fire-promoting and spontaneously inflammable substances or with highly inflammable solids. Avoid contact with acids. Do not store together with oxidizing agents like peroxides etc.

Further information for storage:

Keep in the original container in a cool well ventilated place. Keep container dry and tightly closed.

Maximum temperature allowed during storage and transportation: 30 °C

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure in the work place limited and controlled:

General protection and hygiene measures:

Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling. Do not breathe vapours. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Personal protection equipment

Respiratory protection:

gas mask filter ABEK . In case of long or strong exposure: positive pressure self contained breathing apparatus.

Hand protection:

Protective gloves made of butyl rubber (0,5 mm) . Gloves suitable for up to 60 minutes' use. The permeation time is reduced by mechanical and thermal stresses above 20°C. The selection of appropriate gloves not only depends on the material, but also on other quality characteristics, and may vary depending on the manufacturer. Please observe information from your glove supplier in terms of permeability and breakthrough time.

Eye protection:

tight fitting protective goggles .

Skin protection

protective clothing.

Exposure to the environment limited and controlled:

Prevent material from entering surface waters and soil.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity; Chemical stability; Possibility of hazardous reactions

If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices no hazardous reactions are known. In contact with incompatible substances violent reactions are possible.

Conditions to avoid:

Keep away from incompatible substances. High temperatures.

Incompatible materials

Radical initiators (peroxid, light, heat, heavy metal compounds) may cause polymerization. Reacts with: oxidizing agents , strong acids and basic substances.

Hazardous decomposition products:

If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices and local regulations where applicable: none known .

By hydrolysis: acetic acid and acetone .

Further information:

In use, may form flammable/explosive vapour-air mixture.

Disposal considerations

Material:

Recommendation:

Dispose of according to regulations by incineration in a special waste incinerator. Observe local/state/federal regulations.

Uncleaned packaging:

Recommendation:

Completely discharge containers (no tear drops, no powder rest, scraped carefully). Containers may be recycled or re-used.

Observe local/state/federal regulations. Uncleaned packaging should be treated with the same precautions as the material.
