Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The vapour pressure of ACH (2-hydroxy-2-methylpropanenitrile) was determined according to OECD Guideline 104 (Vapour Pressure Curve, dynamic method) for 0.3 hPa at 20°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
30 Pa
at the temperature of:
293 K

Additional information

The vapour pressure of 2-hydroxy-2-methylpropanenitrile was determined according to OECD Guideline 104 (Vapour Pressure Curve, dynamic method) with a test apparatus according to ASTM D 1120 at pressures between approx. 10hPa and 45 hPa. The parameters of the Antoine equation ln p = A-B/(T-C) were determined for A = 20.1073, B = 6690.6 and c= 8.52 (p in kPa, T in K). The Vapour pressure is <1 hPa. The extrapolated vapour pressure is 0.3 hPa at 20°C.

AEGL committee (US-NAC, Actone Cyanohydrin, Interim Acute Exposure Guideline Levels (AEGLs), Interim final draft, 2005) reports 1.07 hPa at 20 °C (validity not assignable).

ECETOC (JACC report No. 53, Volume I, 2007) reports 1.43 and 4 hPa at 20 °C (validity not assignable).
