A study using a standardized OECD 301F ready test guideline is available for hydrocarbons, C6-C7, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, < 5% n-hexane (Shell 1997). Results from this manometric respirometry test procedure demonstrated 98% biodegradation after 28 days of hydrocarbons. Based on a category approach data are read-across to this substance and are sufficient to demonstrate that hydrocarbons, C7-C9, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics can biodegrade readily and to high extants. No further degradation testing is required.
