First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move to fresh air.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush eyes with copious amounts of water and seek medical
attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected area with soap and water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention immediately.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Extinguishing media: alcohol resistant foam, dry chemical or
carbon dioxide. Water should be used to keep container cool.
Product arising from burning: Ammonia, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, oxides of
nitrogen.

Protective equipment: Wear protective clothing and self-contained breathing
apparatus.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: S
mall quantities: flush to chemical or
municipal sewer leading to a treatment facility.
Larger
quantities: absorb into clay, sand or earth, place in
appropiate containers and dispose by incineration or take to
chemically secure land disposal site. Prevent spillage
directly entering surface water, drains or navigable waters.
Wear appropriate respiratory and skin protective equipment
whilst containing spillage.
Handling and storage
Handling: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear chemical goggles or
face shield, butyl rubber type boots, apron and gloves. Use
local ventilation to control vapour at source. Use full face
supplied air respirator as required. Remove contaminated
clothing and launder before re-use. Workers should change
clothing before leaving work site.
Storage: Store and handle in enclosed system. Store away from
excessive temperatures and direct sunlight. Purge opened
containers with nitrogen prior to resealing. Earth all
equipment, and surround with spillage tray or similar
device.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 1 tonne ISO containers or 20 tonne bulk tanker.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Plants using the substance will normally have toe walls in
critical areas to contain leaks and spills. Some plants
would have a toe wall round the entire substance unit thus
permitting recovery and re-use for a large spill or disposal
in the event of a small spill (There should be little scope
for loss in normal usage: the substance is used in a closed
loop absorbing acid gas from a vapour stream in one vessel
and releasing it by scrubbing in another).
