Description of key information

Zinc bis(dibutyldithiocarbamate) is not readily biodegradable under aerobic conditions. The biodegradation of the substance in surface water is waived because of the highly insolubility of the substance in water.According to column 2 of Annex IX further testing on biodegradation should be considered if the chemical safety assessment indicates the need to further investigate the degradation of the substance and its degradation products. With the current available information, the chemical safety assessment indicates that the risks in the water, sediment and soil compartments are controlled and no further information will have to be provided. In addition, as the logkow of the substance (= 2.16) < 3 (EAG 2019), it is not considered to be potentially PBT/vPvB. Thus, the available information is deemed sufficient for the PBT assessment, classification and labelling and the chemical safety assessment and no further testing on biotic degradation is required. Therefore, the simulation tests of biodegradation in sediment and soil are waived as well.
