Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:

Guideline:
other: VDI 2263 sheet 1
Deviations:
not specified
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The self ignition behaviour was tested according to the Grewer screening test. The test substance is filled in wire basket with 8 ml volume and is heated by an airstream with a heating rate of 1.8 K/min. The inner temperature is measured and compared with an inert reference substance (Graphite) that is heated in the same way.

Additionally the test was repeated using a 1 : 1 mixture with kieselgur
GLP compliance:
no

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The self ignition temperature is 270°C (determined with the hydrochloride of the substance subject for registration)
Executive summary:

Instead of the free amine the hydrochloride was used for the test for self-ignition using the Grewer screening test. As well the pure hydrochloride was tested as a 1 : 1 - mixture with kieselgur. For both tests a self-ignition tempearture of 270°C was found.

Although the test was performed with the hydrochloride the results can be used also for the free base, since for this kind of testing the same or very similar properties can be expected.
