The influence of the test item MBTester on aquatic organisms representing three different trophic levels was investigated in three acute studies in accordance with OECD guidelines and GLP principles. The acute toxicity determined was as follows:
Oncorhynchus mykis 96h LC50 = 16 mg/L, Daphnia magna 48h EC50 = 14.7 mg/L, and Desmodesmus subspicatus
72h EC50 = 6.9 mg/L.
In conclusion, the algae Desmodesmus subspicatus was the most sensitive organism tested with a 72h EC50 of 6.9 mg/L.
The inhibitory effects on the respiration of activated sludge was tested, too. With an EC50 of 9.69 mg/L MBTester has
