Description of key information
In a 96 h study for calcium iodate on Danio rerio, at a test concentration of 100 mg/L, the fishes were found to be freely swimming in the bowl aquaria without showing any abnormal symptoms. No mortalities were observed at the test concentration of 100 mg/l. No mortalities were found in the control aquaria. Hence the LC0 value was considered to be 100 mg/l

By applying weight of evidence approach to the studies summarized in the above table it can be observed that the LC0 value was found to be 100 mg/l in 96 hrs study and the LC50 values was found to be in range of 350 to 896 mg/l in 96 hrs on the basis of mortality effect . Thus according to CLP criteria of aquatic classification it is concluded that the substance Calcium iodate is not toxic to Fish (Danio rerio, Oncorhynchus mykiss)
