First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove the person from exposed area to fresh area

immediately. Get medical advice immediately after prolonged

exposure.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash immediately with large amounts of water or normal

saline; keep the eyelid open with the finger. If irritation

sympthom appears, get medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothes and shoes immediately. Wash

affected area with soap or mild detergent and large amount

of water until no evidence of chemical remains (15-20

minutes). Get medical attention if sympthom appears.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: If swallowed  wash out mouth with water provided person is

conscious. Treat symptomatically and supportively. Get

medical advice if sympthom appears.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: dry chemical, carbon dioxide, water spray or regular foam

Product arising from burning: Thermal decomposition or conbustion may include toxic and

hazardous fumes of NOx.

Protective equipment: Fire fighters should wear self-contained breathing

apparatus, flame and chemical resistant clothing, boots and

gloves. Evacuate containers with water from a maximum

distance.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Sweep up and place into a suitable container for disposal in

compliance with the national laws.

Handling and storage

BIBR 1048 Manamide is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.

BIBR 1048 Manamide is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions as defined under REACH Article 18(4) throughout its life cycle.

Specifically the substance is rigorously contained by technical means during its whole lifecycle; procedural and control technologies are used to minimise emissions and any resulting exposures; only properly trained and authorised personnel handle the substance; special procedures such as purging and washing are applied during cleaning and maintenance works, in cases of accident and where waste is generated, proceduraland/or control technologies are used to minimise emissions and the resulting exposures; and substance-handling procedures are well documented and strictly supervised by the site operator.
