In the key study (Sipos, 2013d) the acute toxicity of the test material to aquatic invertebrates was determined in an acute toxicity study usingDaphnia magna.The study was performed under GLP conditions and in line with the standardised guidelines OECD 202, EU Method C.2, EPA OPPTS 850.1010, and Japanese MAFF (2-7-2-1).
Based on the results of the preliminary range-finding test 20 Dapnhids per concentration were exposed for 48 hours under semi-static conditions at nominal concentrations of 12.5, 25, 50, 100 and 200 mg/L, corresponding to measure geometric mean concentration of 13.7, 23.2, 46.3, 102.4 and 219.4 mg/L. Analytical measurement at the lowest concentration level of 12.5 mg/L could not be performed. In that case the exposure concentration was extrapolated from calculated values of the highest concentration level using the separation factor between the nominal concentrations. Therefore although the measured concentrations did not deviate by more than 20 % of nominal concentrations, biological results are based on the calculated and measured geometric mean concentrations.
Under the conditions of the study, the EC50 was determined to be 58.0 mg/L (95 % confidence limit 52.64 – 63.92 mg/L), the NOEC 23.2 mg/L and the LOEC 46.3 mg/L.
