Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
14 Nov 1994
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: GLP Guideline Study (only preliminary test performed).
Justification for type of information:
Study was conducted in accordance with recognised test guidelines in a GLP accredited laboratory
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.9 (Flash-Point)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
DIN 51758
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
closed cup
Remarks:
Pensky-Martens
Flash point:
> 200 °C
Atm. press.:
1 013 hPa
Remarks on result:
other: A final flash point could not be determined, the test was terminated at 200 °C.
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Preliminary flash point test using the closed cup method determined the flash point of the test item is > 200 °C at 1013 hPa. Main study was not performed.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted on 3-[(2-ethylhexanoyl)oxy]-2,2-dimethylpropyl 2-ethylheptanoate CAS: 28510-23-8 in order to determine it's flash point. The study was conducted in accordance with EU Method A.9 (closed cup method) test guidelines in an accredited laboratory.

The preliminary tests concluded that the flash point of the test substance would be > 200 °C at 1013 hPa, therefore the main study was not performed.

Description of key information

> 200 °C at 1013 hPa

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The flash point for the substance NPG di-2-ethylhexanoate (CAS 28510-23-8) was tested in a Pensky-Martens closed cup tester according to EU A.9 / DIN 51758. A final flash point could not be determined, the test was terminated at 200 °C.
