Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Half-life in air:
10.6 d

Additional information

Direct photolysis half-life of methyl-p-toluate was estimated by QSAR (US EPA Estimation Program Interface (EPI) Suite (2000 and 2012) AOPWIN v1.90 and v1.91, EPA and Syracuse Research Corporation) to be 64.5 hours (i.e. 5.37 days with 12h/d).

In a project performed by RIVM (1997) two different QSAR models were applied to yield atmospheric degradation half-lives for methyl-p-toluate based on OH-radical induced reaction mechanism. According to these data, DT50 is between 5.17 d (model according to Atkinson) and 10.6 d (model according to Klamt).
