Additional information

The Partition Coefficient (Log Kow) of didecanoyl peroxide was firstly determined according to the OECD 117 guideline in compliance with GLP requirements: it was greater that the highest log Pow of reference substances (i.e. > 6.2). However, this methodology may not to be suitable for organic peroxides. The HPLC method could overestimate the Kow for certain structures, there is some evidence that those containing oxygen may be susceptible to the formation of hydrogen bond within the column that could slow down molecules. An other methodology was thus performed to quantify the partition coefficient of the test item: log Pow was determined according to the OECD 123 guideline in compliance with GLP requirements. Results have shown that Log Pow is effectively > 6.05. Therefore, as it was not possible to use experimental determinations to obtain an exact value of Log Kow, QSAR calculation has been used. The logKow of didecanoyl peroxide estimated using EPISuite is 8.38.
