Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Manufacture of carbon black in reactor
Process category (PROC):
PROC 2: Chemical production or refinery in closed continuous process with occasional controlled exposure or processes with equivalent containment conditions
Name of activity / technique:
Unloading of vessels
Process category (PROC):
PROC 8b: Transfer of substance or mixture (charging and discharging) at dedicated facilities
Name of activity / technique:
Proc 28: This activity specifically entails the maintenance and cleaning of the process equipment used to contain the substance at the site. Employees are trained how to carry out this activity to ensure that exposures to man and the environment are prevented and/or minimised. The employees are specifically trained on how to drain down and/or flush or purge (e.g. with steam or nitrogen or air) the system prior to equipment break-in or maintenance. Drain-downs are retained in a sealed storage pending disposal or for subsequent recycle. The activity is carried out with extract ventilation to points where emissions occur and/or the operation is undertaken outdoors. Use of adequate PPE is prescribed. Management procedure are in place in the event that any spill occurs; employees are trained to clear the spill immediately using standard operating procedures.
Process category (PROC):
PROC28: Manual maintenance (cleaning and repair) of machinery
Name of activity / technique:
Sampling of raw material and finished product for quality checks in laboratory

PROC 15: Note that this activity is not referring to use of the substance as laboratory chemical, but to quality control work in a laboratory on the substance as produced in the manufacturing plant. Laboratory work is expected to be carried out under local extract ventilation such as in a fume cupboard. Samples and laboratory waste are kept in sealed storage for subsequent recycling or disposal.
Process category (PROC):
