Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Inhibitory effects of Amines, N-C10-C16-alkyltrimethylenedi-, reaction products with chloroacetic acid on microbial activity were tested in two reliable activated sludge respiration inhibition test, following OECD guideline 209. Replication of control and treatment groups deviated from the current OECD guieline 209 (2010). In both tests, controls were tested in duplicates and treatment groups were not replicated (instead of 5 and 6 replicates, respectively). However, the outcome of the test was not negatively affected by this deviation and acceptability criteria were met.

In the key study, the substance was tested at concentrations of 5.0, 12.5, 32, 80, 200 and 500 mg a.i./L using activated sludge as inoculum. The respiration rate was measured after a contact time of 3 hours. The 3 h EC50 for respiration inhibition was determined to be 22 mg a.i./L (nominal). The EC20 was 11 mg a.i./L.

In a further study performed according to OECD Guideline 209 and EEC Directive 67/548 effects of nominal test concentrations 32.0, 57.0, 101.8, 183.4 and 287.8 mg test item/L (corresponding to 6.4, 11.4, 20.4, 36.6 and 57,6 mg a.i./L) on activated sludge respiration were tested. The nominal based EC50 value for inhibition of bacterial respiration was 280 mg/L ( 95% confidencelimit:110 to 700 mg/L) corresponding to 56 mg a.i./L.
