Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Soil toxicity studies with manganese neodecanoate are not available. In the assessment of manganese neodecanoate, read-across to the assessment entities soluble manganese substances and neodecanoic acid is applied since the ions of manganese neodecanoate determine its fate and toxicity in the environment. Reliable data indicate that the moiety of ecotoxicological concern are manganese cations since the lowest effect concentration is the of 28-d NOEC of 157 mg Mn/kg soil dw for Enchytraeus crypticus. Neodecanoate is mobile and does not have a high potential to partition into soil. Data on the toxicity to aquatic invertebrates point to a low (if any) toxic potential. The QSAR based estimation for toxicity of neodecanoic acid (CAS 26896-20-8) to earthworms performed with ECOSAR v1.11 (EPISuite v4.00) results in a 14-d LC50 of 1934 mg neodecanoic acid/L. Thus, toxicity towards terrestrial invertebrates appears to be low. Thus, based on the low hazard potential of neodecanoate in the aquatic compartment, the low potential to adsorb to soil, a low toxic potential may be assumed for other soil invertebrates.
