The normal boiling point is defined as the temperature at which vapour pressure of a liquid equals 101.325 kPa. If vapour pressure is 101.325 kPa or more at a given temperature, the substance is completely gaseous at that temperature. If this is the case at temperatures of 20 °C or over, the substance is a gas also according to the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008).

According to Column 2 of REACH Annex VII, a study to determine boiling point does not need to be conducted for substances which decompose before boiling at ambient pressure. A theoretical calculation estimated that the lowest boiling point of components of the test item was over 700 °C, however, this does not consider the earlier decomposition of the test item at lower temperatures which was observed during the DSC run. The test item began decomposing at 170 °C.
