Administrative data
First-aid measures
- General advice:
Remove from exposure. Remove contaminated clothing.
- Following inhalation:
In case of inhalation, remove from contaminated atmosphere and seek medical attention if respiratory irritation occurs.
- Following skin contact:
Wash with water and soap.
- Following eye contact: Wash with plenty of water.
- Following ingestion: Flush out mouth with water.
- Most important symptoms and effects: In case of substantial ingestion it is desirable to consult a physician.
Fire-fighting measures
- Suitable extinguishing media:
Use standard firefighting techniques. Use water spray, dry chemical, carbon dioxide or foam.
- Unsuitable extinguishing media:
None.
- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
When heated to decomposition material emits acid smoke and irritating fumes.
- Advice for fire fighter: As with all fires, evacuate personnel to safe area. Firefighters should use self-contained breathing equipment and protective clothing.
Accidental release measures
- Personal precautions:
Avoid that the substance build up static electricity. Make sure all personnel involved in the spill area follow good industrial hygiene practices. Any person entering a spill area or an unknown concentration of dust, should use approved respirator with dust filter.
- Protective equipment and emergency procedures:
Approved personnel protective equipment must be available.
- Environmental precautions: The product is slightly soluble in cold water. Isolate the contaminated area.
- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Remove the substance by cleaner.
Handling and storage
- Precautions for safe handling:
The substance is stable and not considered as a fire hazard. When powdered, as with all dry powders it is advisable to ground mechanical equipment in contact with dry material to dissipate the potential building up of static electricity.
- Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Stow away from boiler.
