- From the observed results of thermal sensitivity (effect of flame) and mechanical (shock & friction), it was concluded that Cyanogen Bromide was non-explosive in nature.
- Executive summary:
The Present study was conducted to determine the Explodability of Cyanogen Bromide sponsored by Libor Bachura Vyzkum A Vyroba, Czech Republic at Bioscience Research Foundation, India by following European Economic Community (EEC) method for Directive 92/69/EEC Method A. 14 & OCSPP 830.6316 guidelines.
Explosive nature of Cyanogen Bromide was determined by Thermal sensitivity method with the effect of flame in 6 mm and 2 mm diameter orifice plates in triplicate at 60 mB pressure and flow rate of 3.2 liter liquefied petroleum gas per minute subjected to flame for 5 minutes through a manifold of four burners. No fragmentation was observed in any of the test replications conducted.
The Shock impact method was carried out in a series of three tests with 10 kg weight and no spark, fumes and bursting was observed.
The Friction Method was carried out in a series of three tests with 360 N load was applied and no spark was observed. From the above observations, it was determined that Cyanogen Bromide was non-explosive in nature.
