Actual concentrations of the test substance in the test media were determined immediately before placing the fish in the test vessels and then after approximately 4, 24 and 96 hours.

Quality criteria

The conditions for the validity of the test were fulfilled:

• Constant conditions were maintained (temperature, pH).

• No mortality occurred in the negative control group.

• The dissolved oxygen concentration was higher than 60 % of the air saturation value throughout the test.

• The concentration of the test substance has been satisfactorily maintained over the test period (higher than 80 % of the appropriate starting concentration in the test medium).

Executive summary:

The acute toxicity of 7-AMCA to Zebrafish (Brachydanio rerio) was determined in a 96 hours static test according to the EC-method C.1. A limit test with 100 mg test substance/L was performed. 7 fish (length of approximately 2.8 cm) were used for each of the test substance group and the control group.

Results:

No mortality and no adverse effects were noted in the test substance group and in the negative control group. The measured concentrations of 7-AMCA in the test medium ranged from 95.8 mg/L to 99.6 mg/L.

pH and temperature were stable throughout the test period. Dissolved oxygen concentration was always higher than 82 % of the air saturation value at the appropriate temperature.

The LC50,96h is higher than 100 mg/L.
