Additional information

The toxicity of the 1-chlorododecane on invertebrates (Daphnia pulex) has been tested and the results has described in a publication. The EC50 was determined to be 0.013 mg/L, indicating a high toxicity of the test substance on invertebrates. A toxicity test with Pseudomonas putida has been performed, but is not assignable for assessment due to limited documentation.

Further evidence on studies with 1-chlorododecane is available as the test substance has been part of the testing program for High Production Volume (HPV) chemicals. Experimental, but proprietary data have been submitted to US EPA under the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA). A chronic study with daphnia (OECD TG 211) revealed effects on growth, no significant effects on reproduction and survival were observed at the highest test concentration. In a study with algae (OECD TG 201), the NO(A)EC on growth rate after 72 h has been shown to be <0.01 mg/L.
