Description of key information

The acute toxicity of the test item on embryonic stages of zebrafish (Danio rerio) was tested according to the OECD guideline 236 and GLP.

The study was conducted under semi-static conditions with the nominal test item concentrations 100 -200 mg/L. Duration of the test was 96 hours. 24 eggs were exposed to the control. 20 eggs were exposed to each concentration level of the test item and the reference substance (3,4 -DCA) with 4 additional eggs as internal control per exposure group. The test was carried out in the dark. The water quality parameters (pH, oxygen saturation and temperature) were determined to be within the acceptable limits. The validity criteria of the OECD guideline 236 were fulfilled. The percent of the nominal concentration of the test item at the start of the exposure was in the range of 87 to 101%, after 24H at 94 to 104%, after 72H between 99 to 104% and at the end of exposure (96H) in the range of 87 to 99%. All effect levels are given based on nominal concentrations: LC0 <100 mg/L, LC100>200 mg/L. The LC50 on embryonic stages of zebrafish after 96h of exposure to the test item under semi-static conditions was calculated to be LC50-96h >200 mg/L.
