Key value for chemical safety assessment

Genetic toxicity in vitro

Description of key information

The four analogues used for the read-across (trifluoromethane, pentafluoroethane, perfluoroethane and octafluorocyclobutane) presented several reliable genetic toxicity tests (in vitro) showing overall evidence that none of them is genotoxic. As the read-across with these analogues is considered as approriate, the target substance carbon tetrafluoride is not expected to genotoxic.

Genetic toxicity in vivo

Description of key information

The three analogues used for the read-across (trifluoromethane, pentafluoroethane, perfluoroethane and) presented several reliable genetic toxicity tests (in vivo) showing overall evidence that none of them is genotoxic. As the read-across with these analogues is considered as approriate, carbon tetrafluoride is not expected to genotoxic.
