Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Dodecene is considered to be readily biodegradable on the basis of read across from outside the category.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

A biodegradation screening study is not available for dodecene. In the absence of data we have evaluated the data available for other alkenes with a carbon range covering C12 and used this for read across.

Alkenes, C11 -12 have been found to be readily biodegradable in a biodegradation screening test (Cidaria, 1995) and alkenes, C10 -13 have also been found to be readily biodegradable (Turner and Watkinson, 1985). Therefore, on the basis of read across dodecene is considered readily biodegradable.
