Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a limit growth inhibition test with Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata, the 72-hour ErC50 for ethyl 3-ethoxypropanoate was > 114.86 mg/L. The 72-hour NOEC for ethyl 3-ethoxypropanoate was determined to be 114.86 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
114.86 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
114.86 mg/L

Additional information

One toxicity study with the green algae, Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata, was available for review and was found to be of good quality and reliable for use in the risk assessment process (Klimish score = 1). This study measured both growth rate (r) and biomass (b) as indicators of growth inhibition over 72 hours of exposure to a limit concentration of 120 mg/L (nominal).  The 72-hour NOEC with P. subcapitata was 114.86 mg/L ethyl 3-ethoxypropanoate. Both the 72-hour EbC50 (based on biomass) and the 72-hour ErC50 (based on growth rate) were reported as > 114.86 mg/L ethyl 3-ethoxypropanoate. Thus, the 72-hour NOEC and ErC50 of 114.86 mg/L and > 114.86 mg/L ethyl 3-ethoxypropanoate, respectively, were selected as the key parameters for this endpoint.
