Description of key information

Three studies have been performed with aquatic invertebrates and are presented below:

The first study determined the acute toxicity of CGA 153433 (cloquintocet-acid) to Daphnia magna. The study was carried out according to OECD guideline 202. In this limit study Daphnia magna were exposed to CGA 153433 for 48 hours under semi-static conditions with test medium renewal after 24 hours. Nominal concentrations were 0 (control) and 9.7 mg/L, the corresponding mean measured concentrations were 0 and 9.7 mg/L. As the measured concentrations were within 20% of the nominal concentrations the results of the study are expressed in terms on nominal exposure.  The 48 hour EC50 was observed to be >9.7 mg/L, the corresponding no-observed effect concentration was 9.7 mg/L.

The second study determined the acute toxicity of XDE-558 (cloquintocet-acid) to the mysid shrimp Americamysis bahia. The study was carried out according to EPA guideline OPPTS 850.1035. In this limit study Americamysis bahia were exposed to XDE-558 (cloquintocet-acid) for 96 hours under semi-static conditions with test medium renewal after 48 hours. Nominal concentrations were 0 (control) and 120 mg/L, the corresponding mean measured concentrations were 0 and 122 mg/L. As the measured concentrations were within 20% of the nominal concentrations the results of the study are expressed in terms of nominal exposure.  The 96 hour LC50 was observed to be >120 mg/L, the corresponding no-observed effect concentration was 120 mg/L.

The third study determined the acute toxicity of XDE-558 (cloquintocet-acid) to the Eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica). The study was carried out according to EPA guideline OPPTS 850.1025. Crassostrea virginica were exposed to XDE-558 (cloquintocet-acid) for 96 hours under flow-through conditions. Nominal concentrations were 0 (control) 13, 22, 36, 60 and 100 mg/L, corresponding mean measured concentrations were 0, 12.6, 21.3, 35.7, 62.7 and 101 mg/L. As the measured concentrations were within 20% of the nominal concentrations the results of the study are expressed in terms of nominal exposure.  The 96 hour LC50 was calculated to be >100 mg/L, the corresponding no-observed effect concentration was 100 mg/L.
