Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
In the absence of experimental data, the use of predicted values has been used to assess short-term toxicity to fish. Two well-established software tools have been used, ECOSAR v1.11 and OECD QSAR Toolbox v3.4.0.17. Two predictions were performed using the QSAR Toolbox; one using a category formed from the aquatic toxicity databases publicly available in the Toolbox and one using a category formed from Givaudans' proprietary database. The predicted 96 hour Fish LC50 values were 2.3, 7.6 and 4.5 mg/L respectively. The prediction results are considered reliable according to OECD principles. The prediction models are scientifically valid and 2,6-dimethylhept-5-enal falls within their applicability domain.
The predicted values are within the same acute aquatic toxicity classification band of >1 and <=10mg/L and as such are considered adequate for regulatory purposes. Furthermore, the models are independent from each other (e.g. based on different training sets). Thus, the agreement among the predictions increases the confidence in the reliability of the predictions. Taking a conservative approach, the lowest value of 2.3 mg/L has been chosen as the key value for chemical safety assessment.
