Additional information

Oral

The oral repeated dose 28-day toxicity study in rodents was performed under GLP according to OECD guideline 407, where groups of six male and female Crj: CD(SD) rats were treated by gavage with of 0, 40, 200 and 1000 mg/kg bw mg/kg/day daily for four weeks. The daily oral administration of 1000 mg/kg/day caused death or debility in 4 out of 6 females but had very little apparent effects on the males. No specific target organ was identified. The appearance, behaviour and general biology of rats treated at 200 or 40 mg/kg/day were essentially indistinguishable from these of the control animals. Based on these findings, the dosage of 200 mg/kg bw/d could be identified as the NOAEL

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on vanadyl pyrophosphate are conclusive but not sufficient for classification.
