Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The key study was a 14-day acute gavage study of the effects of the substance on northern bobwhite (Colinus virginianus), conducted in accordance with an established guideline.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for birds:
1 404.8 mg/kg food

Additional information

In the key study, acute oral toxicity to birds was determined as LD50 = 175.6 mg/kg bw. The NOEL was determined to be less than the lowest level tested (<79.0 mg/kg), based on the examination of body weight, feed consumption, clinical signs of toxicity(e.g., loose excreta, lethargy, laboured breathing, closure of both eyes) and mortality. The key value of LC50 = 1404.8 mg/kg food was derived from the LD50, based on the conversion equation and conversion factor value in ECHA guidance (Equation R.10, and a conversion factor value of 8 for Gallus domesticus, another member of the order Galliformes, fromTable R.10-12; Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.10: Characterisation of Dose [Concentration] Response for Environment, May 2008).  Using the same methodology, the NOEL of < 79 mg/kg bw may be represented as a NOEC < 632 mg/kg food.
