All samples were crushed, grinded to particles less 5mm and homogenized prior to testing. Representative slags from secondary smelting/converter (code 3335) and from concentrator (code 3987) showed a particle size distribution particular to fines, with more than 20% in the fraction smaller than 20µm. . Representative slags from primary smelter/flash furnace (code 5248) and from refining/anode furnace (code 5247) showed a particle size distribution characteristic to massives, with no particles below 50µm (worst case).
