A study was conducted equivalent or similar to OECD 105 to determine the water solubility of 2 -ethylhexanoic acid. Using the flask method the water solubility was determined to be 1.4 g/l at 20°C. Several literature sources reported the water solubility based on experimental data to be in a range from 1.4 g/l and 1.89 g/l.
Ashford's Dictionary of Industrial Chemicals (Ashford, R.D.) reported the water solubility to be 1.4 g/l at 20 °C, the Handbook of Environmental Data on Organic Chemicals (Karel Verschueren) also reported the water solubility to be 1.4 g/l at 20 °C. Yaws' Handbook of Properties for Environmental and Green Engineering reported the water solubility to be 1.89 g/l at 25 °C and Yaws' Handbook of Properties for Aqueous Systems reported the water solubility to be 1.5 g/l at 25 °C. The value from the study was chosen as the most reliable one for the partition coefficient.
