Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: In case of fire normal extinguishing media may be used,
e.g. water, carbon dioxde, foam, dry powder. Pyrolysis
products may include hydrogen chloride and oxides of
carbon, nitrogen and sulphur.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Remove in dry state and dump in accordance with local
regulations. Wash liquid spillage with copious quantities
of water and discharge in accordance with local or national
regulations.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable. In normal use more than 90% is irreversibly
bound to cotton, recovery of the remaining 10% is not
reasonably practical.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: In aqueous effluent by e.g. normal sewage treatment
processes.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not recommended

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Destruction by aerobic degradation occurs (see 5.2). In
addition there are good indications that the dye will be
destroyed by anaerobic biodegradation.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from formulations is not feasible

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable no known hazardous effects

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Dyed articles can be disposed of with normal domestic waste
