Additional information

The potassium salt of cyanide is a white solid which behaves as an inorganic substance. It has a high melting point, and is very soluble in water. When solubilized at pH 7, the salt dissociates and forms hydrogen cyanide (HCN). The properties of HCN are then relevant. These properties can be found in the description of the chemical category for sodium or potassium cyanide, or in the2007 ECETOC Joint Assessment of Commodity Chemicals (JACC) Report No. 53, “Cyanides of Hydrogen, Sodium and Potassium, and Acetone Cyanohydrin (CAS No. 74-90-8, 143-33-9, 151-50-8 and 75-86-5) ”.
