Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
> 7.28 at 20ºC (read-across to blown linseed oil and blown rapeseed oil using the estimation method).
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Log Kow (Log Pow):
- 7.28
- at the temperature of:
- 20 °C
Additional information
For blown linseed oil (BLO) and blown rapeseed oil (BRO) which are mixtures of several compounds, the HPLC method is the best method for determination of the partition coefficient. This method however proved not applicable as the substances are not soluble in polar solvents at sufficiently high concentrations of approximately 1 g/l. Instead, the estimation method (concentration of substance in octanol / concentration of substance in water) was used for the determination of the Pow.
At 19.9 +/- 0.8°C, the n-octanol solubility of both BLO and BRO was concluded to be > 1000 g/l. Information on the water solubility of the substances was derived from the tests in section 4.8. The water solubilities described were < 1 x 10-3 g/l. The Pow and log Pow value of the test substance at 20°C was calculated from the n-octanol solubility and the water solubility to be > 1 x 10^6 and > 6.
The n-octanol solubilities of BLO and BRO are read across to BCO. For the solubility of BCOO in octanol the values of the other oils in this category are used: > 1000 g/l, This is considered justified because of the similar composition of BLO, BCO and BRO. For the solubility of BCO in water, data as presented in section 4.8 for the solubility in water were used: < 5.24 x 10-2 mg/L at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C. The Pow and log Pow value of the test substance at 20°C was calculated from the n-octanol solubility and the water solubility to be > 1.91 x 10^7 and > 7.28 respectively.
